Do you have to have a perfect 4.0?

What is it that Ivy-League colleges look for in a student applying for admission?
Must they have a 4.0 GPA or an extremely high SAT score?
What other things do they take into consideration?
Is an interview required? Does it higher your chances of being accepted?

a 4.0 gpa and a really high sat will definitely help. many people applying to ivy-leagues will have both or very close to each.
colleges want to know what you spend your time doing out of school so they care about extracurriculars (sports, clubs, community service)
colleges also want to know what you are passionate about and it’s best to show them this through activities outside of school, awards etc.
essays and interviews are also important
although an interview may not be required, it is a slight benefit if you have one. it’s just another opportunity to let colleges know more about you as a person

4.0 is no longer good enough, even 8 year olds have a 4.0 these days.

I didn’t have a 4.0 gpa (3.8 instead), I didn’t interview, and I was accepted by Columbia very early via likely letter.

Neither is required.
