Do you HAVE to major in STEM to have a stable life?

if I don’t like stem am I technically screwed? alot of people say you’re wasting your time if you’re not majoring in STEM

There are many companies that are looking for non STEM people. STEM is not needed to get a good job it just makes many paths more straightforward. Also lots of tech companies are looking for people with things like English and history degrees. STEM is still a good thing to major in but it isn’t the only way to have a stable life.

That isn’t true at all. In fact I would say there are many degrees that provide a much clearer path to a good job than some STEM degrees. Three of the most common examples: accounting, nursing, teaching/education. There are jobs for accountants, nurses and teachers in every metropolitan area of the country. I have never met anyone qualified for any one of those careers who is homeless. These aren’t meant to be the only three examples, but they are three good examples.

No, you do not have to major in STEM. Major in what you’re interested in; GPA and skill set matters more.

Not necessarily. Like LOUKYDAD mentioned, those areas are pretty lucrative.
I would suggest some business disciplines (such as financing, economics) have pretty good prospects.
