Do you have to take the most rigorous classes to get into the top colleges?

i was wondering if i don't take the most rigorous classwork but take the next challenging will colleges like JHU, and the ivy league look down at me?

They don’t look down on you but it would be used in the evaluation. Why not take the most challenging? Was it too hard? Are you taking the easy way out to get an A?

One should take the most rigorous courseload that’s resonable. If your school offers 15 APs and you manage to stuff your schedule but only take 9, you’re not going to be “hurt”. But if you end up taking 2 or 3, expect that others’ applications will shine brighter than yours
