Do you recognize the model of this old car?

I have an old family photo of my grandmother’s brother standing next to a car. I was hoping to narrow down what years it could be from the car in the picture. Also the make of the car might narrow down where it was taken; he immigrated from what was then Russia in the early 1920s and ended up in San Diego.

Are there any car aficionado’s that recognize the car?

Let me ask my friend!!

I am no expert but I found this…

Ford Model T Touring variation? Can’t see the hood ornament in your photo but similar 12 spoke wheel tire set up and side venting.

Deleted because I don’t know anything about cars :joy:

If it is a Model T, based on the photos at Ford Model T - Wikipedia , it may be a 1926 or 1927 car, based on the hood shape and position of the headlamps relative to the front fenders.

Not a model T. The car expert thinks it is a 1918 REO

This is my googling of the car:

An REO … Speedwagon?!

And here I thought it was just a weird name for an 80’s band.

:joy:!!! So did I!

Ransom Eli Olds. And yes, the REO Speed Wagon was a model manufactured from 1915 through the early 50’s.

While the car in the photo may be an REO, it is not a Speed Wagon.

So in other words you:

“Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from a friend who
Heard it from another…”

So rare I get to quote REO Speedwagon Lyrics regarding an REO.

My husband says it could be an REO…has the right lines for that car. He says not a Ford.

Good one, but I did not hear from a friend who heard from a friend. My BFF’s boyfriend is a real cat **nut! I texted him… Quoting the text I got from him:

“ Based on the shape of the windshield and the way the body rolls over at the top it looks to match. R.E. Olds founded Oldsmobile, after they kicked him out he formed a new company REO, which later just made trucks.”

ETA: yes, he is a cat nut in addition to being a car nut. My iPhone always tries to turn “car” into “cat.” :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I was totally joking and self admittedly know more about the band REO Speedwagon (and I don’t know much) then I do about vintage cars.

Absolutely no disrespect intended or implied.

“My BFF’s boyfriend is a real cat nut!”

And just for completeness I am not sure how feline expertise is relevant😀

Oh yes, these folks are crazy about cats in addition to cars and spoil their feline family member rotten!

Wow, the things I’ve learned on CC! Always wondered what the name meant.

At the time when GM decided to stop making Oldsmobiles, Olds was the oldest car brand still being sold in the US. Went back to something like 1903.
