Do younger students have an advantage?

O.k so... i am going to be 16 during my senior year (which is really young for a senior)... do i have an advantage when i'm applying for Ivy league schools? If not why, and same for yes answers.

If anything, its a disadvantage. Colleges might think you aren't mature enough to be in a college environment, since you are younger.

oh snap.

what grade did you skip?

One year give or take doesn't make a difference. If anything, suggest a gap year.

I agree with Dark, why would it be an advantage? There's simply no reason ivy leagues (or any college for that matter) would want to actively seek out a younger student body.

It's only a disadvantage if your course work and ECs are weak because of it. If you still took 4 years of science/language.difficult math etc. you're probably fine. But it seems hard to have really competitive ECs if you skip, just not enough time to show depth. If you're aiming at top school use the extra year to take really advanced classes, get leadership positions, do something in the community, etc. It will really help.

Lots of kids can skip a grade. It doesn't say you're smarter than others. It does say you might be socially uncomfortable.
