You don't need to send anything to USNA. The medical officer will review your file automatically. Unfortunately, the review can take up to 90 days.

dont see why DoDmerb doesn't just review candidates with a nomination, or only scholastically qualified applicants.

Because applicants like me who are stuck in red-tape limbo (i.e. nomination and still no candidacy due to delayed ACT scores being sent) need to have their application taken care of in a timely manner; therefore, getting things like the DoDMERB test done while waiting on paperwork helps to speed things up when my candidacy becomes official.

I have heard that the distant visual acuity worse than 20/40 is a "soft disqualification", but will not actually be disqualifying or needing a waiver as long as there are no other disqualifications. So, if you complete the requested remedials and they do not disqualify you for either of those issues, then you will not be disqualified for the vision. I cannot say that I am 100% certain, but this is what I have read. Can anyone confirm my assessment? Thanks.

Is there a certain percentage that they accept that are vision wavers? ;).

i took your advice nurseypoo, and it worked! all of my medical part is done, all in a day, too! so, i called dodmerb, they said they hadn't received my remedial. i finished the remedial 3-4 weeks ago, mind you. anyways, the lady at dodmerb was very nice, and told me that i could just tell the medical center to fax the info to dodmerb, and she gave me a number. she also said that if they're being cranky about it, just call her back and she'll work it out for me. (how nice) anyways, i called up the medical center where and apparently my status and whatnot was still in the system, and they had not sent it out. gave them the fax number that the dodmberb lady gave me, and the medical center told me they'd fax it right out. called dodmerb back later that afternoon and they said they got it. then said should take a week or so for the results to show up on the site. checked the site later that night and it was cleared!

btw - i had to do a repeat urinalysis if you're wondering.

however, i have a soft disqualifcation for my eyes. and i am comission qualifed for USAFA. (no tripled qualified for me.)

my whole process went through in less than one whole day! i'm quite amazed. so, stick to nurseypoo's advice keep up track with your medical. even if it means poking around a bit, do it!

-nurseypoo i read somewhere that only 30% of the whole class can have vision waivers. dunno if that's correct or not.

Happy to have helped! :D.
