I didn't do so well throughout highschool. Well, not as good as I could have done and now it is my senior year and I have a cumulative grade of about an 85 unweighted. I have mediocre EC's - junior year I joined a lot of clubs but did nothing to earn some sort of recognition. I think I have some solid letters and essay and a SAT of a 1980. I plan on trying to do better this year and bring my grade up to a 90, weighted. I don't plan on going to a very selective college, but does my gpa ruin any chance I had of getting into one?

You’ll easily get into a college, just not the highly selective ones.

GPA for the most part shows how hard you worked. SAT/ACT are more like IQ tests. So high test scores but low gpa means smart but lazy. You’ll still get into some college.
