Hi everyone,
I am dreaming of going to Stanford or Johns Hopkins as a Pre-Med student. For the past 3 years of high school (I am an incoming senior), I have been having straight A's for all the honors and AP classes at my school. Unfortunately, AP Calculus AB is the hardest class that I took my junior year, and my teacher is known for being really difficult. Anyway, I got an "A" for my first semester, but a "B" for second semester. If I manage to get straight A's my senior year, will I still have a competitive GPA? Without counting the SAT scores or the extra-curricular activities, will the one "B" for only one semester affect my chances of having a competitive GPA for colleges like Yale and Stanford?

Depends. I know some people who had a 2-3 B's over the course of 4 years and got into Ivy League Schools. Then again, I know some people who had spotless report cards, but couldn't make the cut and ended up going to state universities. Most likely your future will be dictated by your SAT/ACT scores at this point.
