It was reported that the UNC student body is made up of 60% females and 40% males. Does this help my admissions chances as an OOS Male applicant? Just curious if it has any leverage, although I am from NY.

With more women attending college than men, at UNC, as well as many, many colleges nowadays, the answer to your question is no.

Being a guy isn’t a URM (under represented minority) yet.

On a positive note, if you get accepted, don’t have a girlfriend, and are straight, the odds are quite favorable for you dating, hooking up, hanging out, or whatever you kids call it nowadays.

Last I checked, admit rates were identical but a lot more females applied than males resulting in a gender imbalance. It won’t help you as a male.

According to info I received directly from UNC admissions, the answer is no. There is no advantage given to highly qualified male applicants.
