Hello guys! Do you think you have a chance to be accept at MIT with a SAT's score of 1500 or 1300 and with a GPA of 4.25?

Is that SAT score you’re referencing out of 2400 or 1600?

out of 2400

you probably need at LEAST 1800+ (if not 2000+) to have a chance

Rrrrrrr but what about if your ACT’s score is 28 out of 36?

That ACT score has a better chance than the proposed SAT score, but still a very slim chance. Of the students admitted based on ACT score last year 6.2% had an ACT score of less than 30, according to the common data set. Whether they all had 29 or some had 28 or less, I can’t say. Compound that by the overall admission rate, and you chance of admission, assuming everything else is stellar, would still be slim to none. There were a total of 406 accepted students who submitted ACT scores, so 25 got in - out of about 1100 admitted students, and 17,000 applicants.

lokk here for the CDS data, and see for yourself: [MIT Office of the Provost, Institutional Research](<a href=“MIT Institutional Research”>MIT Institutional Research)

Thank you! Well I hope I could have a chance with my ACT’s score than with my SAT’s score

Why don’t you just re-take the ACT/SAT once more?

From just seeing your test scores, you will probably be rejected as an unqualified applicant. Unless you have something really extraordinary going for you, or some reason your scores are so low, you won’t get in. Just trying to be realistic here; many MIT applicants achieved those scores in middle school talent searches.

@OP, the purpose of test scores is to verify that you can handle the academic rigor at “x” school. even if you get into MIT, judging by your SAT/ACt, it would be very tough for you to keep up.

Your chances may be different if you are an international student and English is not your first language, which in that case they will look at the SAT in a different way, and you will probably have to take other tests to show your skills. (You would definitely have to take the TOEFL)

How do you have a 4.25 GPA with such dismal test scores? That’s a red flag.

Yeah iamthebatman, I’m an International Student I came to USA just for 8 months and English is my second language. I also plan to the TOEFL.
Hey Juhuatai, I have that GPA because all my classes are APs and I’m a As student and to be honest to you I study everyday just to get that GPA

If you’re an International Student, you don’t need to take the SAT. Take the TOEFL. MIT highly recommends at least 100. With that said, 1500/2400 on the SAT is a guaranteed rejection at MIT. Sorry to be blunt, but that’s the truth.

Yeah I agree with you 'cuz I even checked on MIT’s stats there s no chance for that score so iceui2 you think with the TOEFL it could work?
