Does anyone ever feel like it's too small?

Hi I'm a senior this year and looking possibly to apply ED to Gettysburg or Lehigh. I visited in the summer, I loved the school and my tour guide was great. I go to a high school in Maryland with 2,200 students and Lehigh's size seems to be more appealing to me because it's double the size of my high school but I just wanted to see how people felt about the size of Gettysburg. Does anyone ever feel like they wish there were more students or that the small size limits any opportunities? I'm just a little worried because it seems about the same size as my high school!

Don't know if this helps as I am a parent of a student, but my son attends Gburg now and his high school was about the size of Gburg. He absolutely loves the school and has no complaints about the size. It is such a tight knit community and the one on one attention that he receives there is amazing. The town of Gettysburg is thriving and charming and full of so much history. Lehigh is a much different kind of environment, as we visited that school as well. There isn't much of a town outside of the campus but more importantly I think you have to ask yourself if you are looking for a personal touch kind of environment or one where you will be much more autonomous. Gburg is amazingly close to Baltimore and DC (one hour to each) and that opens up a lot of opportunities as well. Lehigh's closest city is Philly...but the campuses have such a different feeling I guess you have to go with your gut feeling and trust how you feel at both places. Maybe visit again while classes are going and you will get a better sense that it isn't such a quiet place...it is great to see when classes are going on.

Hi, I'm a first-year student at Gettysburg, and I thought I'd take a stab at answering your question...First off all, do not come to Gettysburg for a life off of campus, because there isn't much of one. The town has a lot of history, antique stores, restaurants, and not much else. Not that this is itself is a bad thing, it's just that unless you have a car, sometimes it can be really annoying. Also, the frat scene is huge here, so it will help if you're into that type of thing. However, you don't have to be in order to make friends and to have fun here, it's just that it will make it much easier on you. As for academic opportunities, I feel so far that Gettysburg has been very beneficial to me in the way of small class sizes (my largest one, which is a science lecture, is 36 students) and has tried to make my adjustment into college life as painless as possible. If you're interested in majoring in Poli Sci or some related field, you will find tons of opportunities here, given Gettysburg's proximity to D.C. At times, I do feel stifled here, and have recently mulled over transferring. But overall, I would say that you should defintely apply and then perhaps stay overnight if you are still unsure concerning your decision. Best of Luck!
