Does anyone ever go off campus for groceries/clothes/recreation?

If so...where do you go and what form of transportation do you use?

I take the bus to UTC (clothes shopping), Ralph’s/Vons (groceries), movies, random plazas to eat out. You pay for that “free” bus sticker on your student ID, and since I don’t have a car as a 1st year I might as well use it. My friend drives me to anywhere else–Seaworld, Carlsbad, etc. She lives 40 minutes away from campus and frequently takes our group to visit her fave random shopping districts and hole-in-the-wall restaurants somewhere in the area.

Ralph’s is within walking distance so it’s pretty convenient.

Of course! You take the bus or shuttle and go to one of the main shopping centers really close to campus (10-15 mins). If you really want to go downtown you can do that, too. It just takes a little longer (1 hour or so).

i’ll be living on campus next year and i plan on bringing my car. the convenience is worth the $800 permit tbh. public transportation is horrible if you want to go somewhere not near UCSD
