Does anyone have any insights to share on the pros/cons of BS in Theater verses BA in Theater?

My D18 is between two schools and struggling to come to a decision between two schools. She didn’t want a conservatory experience. One school has a BS in Theater and the other is a BA in Theater. Can anyone weigh in on if there is a benefit of one over the other?

Some colleges choose to call their degree a BS and other colleges choose to call their degree a BA. The name of the degree doesn’t matter. Instead I would focus on if there is any difference in coursework between the two schools as well as any other reasons she may prefer one over the other.

@wwc4me, to add to what @happy1 says, when looking at curriculum investigate requirements, but also available electives and the opportunities for students to dive deeper into subject matter through electives.

Most schools should be able to answer this for you. Also helpful to look at course descriptions in the course cataloge.

Thanks so much. She’s looked through the course books etc. One is a more well known program where she will be with people she knows and the other seems to be a good, solid program, but she doesn’t know anyone who has been a student there. She’s working on a pros and cons list for each school and plans to check in with her counselor at school this week. One school is ranked higher, but theater program at the other is probably ranked better.
