Does anyone know about 15-151 course?

I am thinking of trying switching from CIT to SCS but one of the required courses is 15-151. I heard that 15-151’s teaching material is similar to 21-127 (Concepts of Math), but don’t really have info about the difficulty. I only have upperclass CS friends and they said they didn’t take that class since they entered CMU when 151 was gone.

Can somebody tell me about how difficult is 15-151?? Is it more difficult than 21-127?

Thank you!

15-151 might be actually easier to 21-127. Like the averages for the last 3 midterms have been around a 70. I also heard that the homework for concept is like also harder. However, this can all change depending on the professor. Concepts and 15-151 are interchangeable course, but you usually want to take 151 if it is offered, concepts otherwise.

To apply for transfer to SCS, it’s required to take 151 AND 127 :frowning: Thank you!

that doesn’t even make sense. They are the same course… that is like saying it is required to take Calculus in 3D AND Multivariable Calculus. They are pretty much the same content but each has a different goal. It is also like comparing 21-240 with 21-241 and 21-242.

I know… That’s what everyone is telling me but SCS website says so  Maybe I should double check with SCS staff. Thank you.

Wow, that’s weird. From what I can tell, 15-151 is the same as 21-128, which is essentially a Math/Honors (not sure about Honors?) version of 21-127.

So definitely check with SCS directly to see what’s going on with that.
