I am not finding an answer to my question on the common app help page. I have repeatedly posted a question via the email tool over the course of several weeks but I have never received a response. Site says I should expect a response in a reasonable time frame??? What the heck do I need to do ??
I have seen conflicting answers to my question online so I wanted to get the answer from the source. Basically, my son wants to tailor his essay a few times for specific categories of schools and he needs to understand what the limitations of the app are regarding this. How many versions of the essay is he allowed to submit? I have seen answers that indicate 3 times and I have seen answers that say 12 times. 3 seems adequate but he needs to be sure before he commits to this strategy.
I know its out there, but I can’t find it. DD’s guidance counselor mentioned there was no limit on revisions, then proceeded to tell the kids not to write a separate essay for each school. I wouldn’t go on my information, but its on a bunch of websites, I just can’t find it on the common app one.
Here is one example
Unlimited Edits
Also this year for the first time, students will be allowed to make as many edits to their Common App essay as they want after submission. Previously, students were only allowed three essay edits after the first submission, intended to allow students to make minor changes like correcting spelling and grammar errors. Now, students will be allowed to make unlimited changes to the essay, mirroring the unlimited changes students could already make to other parts of the application. This will allow students to make adjustments for each submission – possibly further tailoring their personal statement to a particular school if they see fit.
CC has a ban on blogs and this comes from a blog so I didn’t post the URL. I think someone posted it on the Parents of class of 2016 thread. I got bored before I could find it, but I’m pretty sure its there. If you find it, please post the link. I would love to see how its actually worded.
