does anyone know of duquesne's vocal program?

Looking at good music schools for b+ student for voice, help?

I saw some vocalists there at my S’ audition last week, but he is a bass player. I was impressed with the music program overall, admins and profs seemed very involved and went out of their way to answer my specific questions.

My S is a B, even B- student (our school doesn’t weight and he has several APs), and he received an academic acceptance. The audition results should come tomorrow, we were told. That right there is pretty neat - a 5 day turnaround.

I liked the campus. RIGHT downtown in Pittsburgh with buses and city at their feet. The campus is up on a bluff so feels separate even though it’s right there. We parked in a garage at downtown-city level, took an elevator up to 8 and walked out on Duquesne’s street level. I liked that setup. Facilities were modern, we toured the music school though not the entire campus.

The food wasn’t so great though :)

I cannot speak to the program itself, but I am a Duquesne Alum and my wife started out there as a vocal performance major (she hated opera/classical so she changed majors after freshman year). PM me if you have any questions about the campus or the city. It’s an amazing city for the arts, let alone being an amazing city in general.

Think more about your voice and audition than your GPA if you are a solid B+ student. Do you want a LAC with a good music program, a conservatory, strong academics, etc?
Word from students who attended within the past, say, 6 or so years, is that “you don’t go to Duquesne to be a singer”… From the conversations I’ve had with a couple of them, I glean that the VP program just isn’t very good and many good students (as determined by where they eventually end up for further training) get pushed to the rear there because they have larger or later maturing voices.
Once again, that doesn’t mean that a student might not find just the right teacher there and have a great time so by all means do your own research, but I would look at all aspects of the program and make sure that other options on your list.
