I’m from maryland and I was wondering this.
Does applying as undecided increase chances? No
Does being an instate applicant increase chances? Yes
According to an admission counselor “all applications are major blinded when being reviewed” but being an instate applicant does increase your chances
@LustinJack12 does applying early action increase chances?
@Rookie56 does applying early action help or is early decision?
@dodgerman711 I assume so, since your gonna be the first one they look at
well it’s technically called priority action so I’m sure that’s a giveaway
@DDOuser is it possible for you to explain to me what that means?
The priority deadline is effectively an early action application deadline. In fact, if you do not apply by the priority deadline,. you are NOT eligible for the Honors College, you are NOT eligible for the Scholars Program and you are NOT eligible for Merit Scholarships. This is all spelled out on the UMD application website
priority means you are given priority in admissions
@SoofDad thanks for the explanation
@LustinJack12 what does major blind mean? Is it that they don’t consider that they don’t look at wat you’re majoring in?
@dodgerman711 major blind means that they don’t look at your major during the whole process. If you get denied from your major, they will put you in a program called “letters and sciences”. Long story short, your major has nothing to do with your decision into the university
@LustinJack12 do most universities do this?
@dodgerman711 I would assume so, I know for example at penn state they have their own business school which you have to apply to and many other state universities as well
@LustinJack12 can you apply for the business school while in college or do you have to apply while you’re still a high school student?
@dodgerman711 I think you can apply to it while your filling out the schools application, just mark business down as your major and then once your admitted into the university then apply for the business school
@LustinJack12 do you apply the moment you enter university or can you apply sophmore year for it?
@dodgerman711 when you enter the university
@LustinJack12 what happens if you apply and get denied? Could you improve your grades more and try again?
