Does applying for financial aid lower chances of acceptance?

Will colleges take into consideration whether you apply for financial aid or not when reviewing your application? I have no problem applying for financial aid for my safety schools, but I'm a bit worried that it'll lower my chances at my match and reach schools. For example, I'm applying to Cornell's HumEc ED, and I'm both out of state and a female, which already lowers my chances. I'm also applying to Tufts, UVA, W&M, and VT (I'm in state for UVA, W&M, and VT).

Thanks!

Most colleges are need blind so no. But they might just give you bad financial aid

For most schools, admissions is done on a need blind basis. But ask. They’ll tell you. I think of that group Tufts is the only need aware school in admissions. But W&M and VT do not guarantee to meet full need and generally do not.

Tufts could hurt you somewhat but not as much as applying for financial aid as an OOS at an UC would.

So if they’re need blind, they’ll do FA separate from the application, and if they’re need aware, the admissions officers will also see your FA needs?

I also feel applying for financial aid will hurt your chance, especially for these poor universities.
