Does Applying SCEA Give You an Advantage?

I was just wondering since the SCEA acceptance rate for Harvard (and most of the other schools with SCEA) is much greater than that for RD. Is admissions more lenient? Is it better for certain people to apply SCEA and for others to apply RD? Thanks!

If you don’t have the time to wade through all of those threads, here’s my answer from one of them:

well 8 subject tests seems a little bit excessive…

@NormanxI: The high school requires a student not taking an AP course to take the SAT Subject Test at the end of the year. The Parents’ Association even raises money for student’s who cannot afford the SAT Subjects tests, so student’s can take them at no cost. So there is no reason not to take them, other than laziness. Given the high school is a feeder school to the ivies, with an acceptance rate lower than Harvard, Admissions understands the high school’s requirements. So, for that high school, it’s not excessive, it’s the norm. For another high school, the number of SAT Subject tests would be excessive.
