So my question is does being an Eagle Scout actually help in college applications? Give my the honest answer or opinion please because I am concerned about this.

Side notes about myself:
African American - 3.57 GPA - 23 ACT - 4 Years Varsity Track - Kappa League - Jack and Jill Beautillion

I really want to go to University of San Diego too.

Eagle Scout is a great extracurricular, especially if your Eagle project is noteworthy. However it will never take the place of good grades and high test scores.

My eagle project was with Special Olympics Colorado. What I did was help host and plan the tournament for the athletes and I was also the Volunteer Coordinator. What I did was recruit and directed about 200 volunteers throughout the 4 days while managing other actives durning the tournament.
Would you consider that noteworthy?

Agree with what everyone said above. My son’s science teacher is an Eagle Scout and he told me that being an Eagle Scout played an important role in his college admission. So in short, being an Eagle Scout doesn’t guarantee admission but will definitely help you.

Even elite colleges think Eagle Scout is a big deal. (I’ve seen lists of how many Eagle Scouts there are in incoming freshmen classes during orientation sessions.) It shows long-term commitment, leadership, and service, all combined in one EC. No one gets it by chance and no one does it to “check the box”. As someone said, it won’t overcome poor grades, but it’s a big plus.
