Does being an immigrant or first gen kid ACTUALLY help that much?

I was wondering if whether being an immigrant, even at the age of 2 or 3 actually distinguishes one person from another in terms of admission to top tier schools.

Even if someone else lived in similar situations as that immigrant kid, yet was NOT one, would the immigrant kid have a better chance, even if the non-immigrant had slightly better all around stats (same race).

Thanks in advance!

I don’t think being an immigrant helps if you are from an over-represented country (China, India, etc.), especially if your immigrant parents have college degrees. Being a first-generation immigrant may be a decent hook, but if your parents are still well off, such as self-made entrepreneurs, then it won’t likely help a lot.
