does being indian help your chances

I was wondering whether being indian helps your chances of getting into college
(btw, by indian I mean from the country in southeast asia, NOT native america)

for example I know being african american helps your chances (because they are a minority)

btw I'm applying to some ivy leagues and high tier liberal arts colleges such as amherst and bowdoin, dunno if that helps

It would only help with schools that traditionally receive few if any applications from S Asian students. The ones you’ve mentioned are not short of S Asian students or applicants. Thus, you have no advantage in that sense.

Depends on where you are applying. Notre Dame, Vanderbilt and some LACs it may probably help.

Ivies, absolutely not. Bowdoin, probably a small plus, as will be true at most rural LACs (not named Williams and Amherst).
