<p>No. Columbia does not consider “demonstrated interest” in the application process.
That said, if you can, I would highly recommend that you visit campus or attend an information session in your hometown so you get more information about the school. But to ease your mind, I had visited Columbia only once before I applied (as a sophomore) and had attended an information session at my school but my attendance was not recorded.</p>

<p>At most highly selective colleges and universities, an applicant’s demonstrated interest does not weigh at all in the admissions process.</p>
<p>And really, can you blame them for thinking, “We’re Columbia! We feel highly confident that most of you are pretty darn interested”?</p>
<p>You shouldn’t visit a school to give your application a slight boost but rather to get a feel of campus life and evaluate whether you can see yourself there or not.</p>
