Does essay template really work?

Hey guys, I saw an essay template on internet and was wondering whether it really works.
The template was basically,

Introduction
Simple thesis: Yes, I agree to/I do not agree to (restatement of the question))
Each sentence for Ex 1, Ex 2, Ex 3

Body 1, 2, 3
Ex 1, 2, 3 and three elaborations for each examples.

Conclusion
restatement of thesis (one or two sentences)

This template seemed like too stark, but it seemed like it worked for some people. I know the time is really limited for the essay, but is it okay to write in such a cookie-cutter way?
And my another question is, do I have to write three bodies, or can I write 2 bodies with more explanation? What would the graders think? I've never taken SAT, so I have no idea.
My last question is, do I have to include one body from my experience? If I compose an essay just from historical facts and books, would that hurt my score? I don't think it matters, but I feel like I read somewhere that it might hurt.. Thanks all

I’ve gotten 11 with 2 examples and 3 examples.

Graders will not grade based on which examples you use, but how well you support your argument.

I think that templates work beautifully. Personally I scored an 11 with a very generic, off the shelf essay structure that is common around here. So yes, it is okay to be cookie cutter. You don’t have to use personal experience (I would actually shy away from that) but I would go for three examples instead of 2.
