Why don't they have a varsity team?

I’m pretty sure they have a club team. I’m transferring there after playing division II soccer. Kinda sucks they don’t have a team, but IIRC I saw something about there club team.

What grade are you in?

Yes there is club soccer at FSU. [Men’s Soccer Club at Florida State University - Home](http://menssoccerfsu.■■■■■■■■■■/)

Does the club team verse the other schools varsity teams or just their club teams

Club teams play other clubs. The schedule for this school year:

Fall 2010
vs. UCF
vs. Miami
vs. FGCU
vs. NC State
vs. Kennesaw State
vs. Clemson - White

Spring 2011
vs. Valdosta St.
vs. Florida Gulf Coast
vs. Tulane

I’m pretty sure the FSU recreation dept. helps out approved athletic clubs with some money for team expenses like travel (gas, motel, and meals) for away games so it is not as expensive to be on a club as you might think. Each member might get tagged for $50-60 for an away weekend.

Why don’t they just make a varsity team

^Probably because the athletic dept. doesn’t have or want to spend the money for a men’s soccer team. There is probably only a women’s soccer team to help comply with Title IX.

Is there any way to get the club soccer team to try and get a varsity team

No. Not in the cards at this time.

If a donor maybe coughed up around say $25 million FSU Athletics might start up a men’s soccer team. The last new men’s sport, cross country, was begun at FSU in 1962. All the other men’s teams started in the late 1940’s when FSU went coed with the returning WW II GI’s.
