I have a marine biology class this year that allows students to conduct a lot of research. It also grants many scholarship opportunities and some students from my school have won some money from research conducted in this class. Will doing science research give me an extra edge and help me stand out in college admissions? Thank you for your help.

Maybe, but if you’re conducting research to get an extra edge in college admissions, you’re doing it wrong.

I will be doing it because it is part of the curriculum, not for college admissions. Thank you for your response.

It is an EC like many others. For some schools it may be intriguing.

bump? I would like more input, thank you!

Not sure what other information you’re looking for. It’s heavily dependent on the college itself, what they value, and what kind of research you do. If you’re cleaning pipettes and grabbing coffee, that’s not as admirable as participating in a more meaningful way. And some colleges will love that whereas others will just see it as another EC.
