Not looking for chances at any specific schools here. But, say your school is just average in academics, maybe a little above. Would that affect your chances at all at any schools?

It kind of depends.

Let’s say your school has no honor courses or AP courses, You should take the initiative by taking courses at a local community college. If not, it could hurt your chances a little. Or, in some special cases, if you’re international and there are no community colleges around, colleges will understand and take it to consideration. But, other than cases like this, it shouldn’t HURT your chances. But, going to a renown school can sometimes help you (usually the college counseling is better, which is really what helps you). But, of course, at schools that are renown there should be a rigorous curriculum, which also helps you.

But you shouldn’t worry. The school you go to doesn’t usually affect your chances at colleges.
