Does it matter if it's AP or Dual Enrollment?

I want to take some courses at a college instead of at my high school. I was thinking of taking Calculus, Government, and Economics at a college instead of at my high school. Doing so will enable me to be able to make room for Dance class which I really like.

My school does offer AP Calc AB, AP Gov and AP Econ. Does it matter if I take these courses at a college instead? They will be both weighted the same at my high school.

Does AP = Dual Enrollment classes at an accredited college

Most AP courses are not taught at college pace, so DE may be considered more rigor. Nevertheless, DE credit may potentially not accepted by college, particularly from out of state.

You could take the college courses, but also take the similar AP tests (e.g. AP calculus BC test for college calculus 1 and 2) for double coverage on the transferability of the credit. You would not get double credit, but you would be covered if the college you eventually attend accepts one but not the other.
