Does it matter what college I go to for undergrad if I want to become an obstetrician

Hi! I am a sophomore in high school. I currently have a 4.0 GPA, but this semester I have a B+ in Spanish....I dislike Spanish... hopefully I can get an A by the end of the semester! I think part of it is due to my OCD. (I'm going to get help soon, after having it exposed in Spanish class) I'm wondering, does it matter what college I go to for undergrad?? For some reason I don't feel very confident in getting into UCLA, USC, Berkeley, etc.

The only AP class I'm taking this year is AP Human Geography. I love this class but I hope that I got a 5 on it. I know that I missed a few on the MC and I might have struggled on one of the FRQs. :(

Other than that I had a 4.2 GPA weighted last semester :D

Next year, the AP classes I am taking are APUSH, AP Eng Lit, and either AP Psychology or AP Art History. AP Psychology is full I think, so I'm probably taking AP Art History. On top of all of this I have Chemistry. It sounds hard coming from what all of my friends have been saying. Is AP Art History easy?

My extracurriculars aren't all that strong, a few community service hours at various places, but the most prominent being at my local Zen Buddhist temple. I MIGHT get a position as a treasurer at Vietnamese Students Association, but idk...might not try out. I am not athletic whatsoever....so no sports...I wish I was athletic...I also have an OCD that prevents me from trying out for sports, but I have always refrained from sports anyway.

My plans:

Junior Year Schedule:
Spanish 3 (Ugh)
Alg2/Trig (HOPEFULLY if I score advanced on the Geometry CST and the benchmark)
APUSH
APLIT
AP Psych/AP Art Hist
Health (LOL did not complete this yet)
Chemistry

If I get into Alg2/Trig, then I'll take Precal in the summer

Senior Year:
AP Bio
AP Eng Lang
AP Gov/Econ
AP Psychics
Calculus BC
Might take AP Psychology as well, actually probably...

Ahhh it's a lot but if a good undergrad college is necessary I'll try my best!!! I really want to become an obstetrician with a good background. :)

I am a physician. By in large, where you go for undergrad has little bearing on where you go to med school. The two most important factors for getting into med school are your GPA and MCAT scores. Where you do your residency also doesn’t really depend on the med school, unless you are seeking the best programs or the most competitive residencies, in which case I do believe (but can’t prove) a slight bias towards the more renowned medical schools.

As long as you go to somewhat of a decent school for undergrad (and your stats suggest that), you’ll be fine. Honestly, in the end no one will care about the name on your undergraduate degree, they only care about your graduate degree. GPA is very important for getting into med school. I would actually recommend NOT going to a great undergraduate school so you can dominate your classes and get an excellent GPA

Is it just me thinking that its a bit preposterous for a high school sophomore asking questions about how to become a OB/GYN?

My second son is a rising senior in high school getting ready to apply to colleges. He doesn’t have even the faintest of ideas as to what he wants to major in! May be I should get on his case :D
