Does it matter what KIND of AP classes you take

My dad and I were debating whether it really matters. I plan to study in the math/science field, so he really wanted me to take as many math and science AP classes. However, next year will be my junior year, and I plan to take AP Chemistry and APUSH. He wanted me to swap out APUSH for AP Calculus AB. I said that I could take AP Calculus AB senior year, but he wanted me to be on BC Calc by that year. I could take 3 AP classes in my junior year, but I feel that I will need to study really hard for AP Chemistry and APUSH, since I heard those two classes were the hardest and had the hardest AP exams. I am interested in history but I don't plan to do anything after high school with it. Will tech colleges reject me for taking APUSH rather than AP Calc AB in my junior year?

P.S. I am currently taking AP World History and will take the exam in May.

EDIT: I plan to take AP Calculus AB in my senior year and regular calculus in my junior year at least. Right now I'm in math analysis/precalc.

Probably, if you’re going into math/science, you should take Calculus.
I personally didn’t find APUSH hard at all, but you might be different. Are you doing well in AP World History? If so, APUSH is much easier. You might be able to do all three AP classes if you can do well in World. I personally can’t speak for the difficulty of AP Calc AB, but I am in AP Chem and APUSH this year, along with another AP, and I’m doing fine.

I don’t understand why taking both history and science requires you to miss a year of math.

If you’re in precalc, and the choice is between regular calc and AP calc, definitely take the AP. It shouldn’t make too much of a difference in difficulty (I don’t know your school, so it might - you can talk to current students in both classes about which is harder), and if you take regular calc this year then AP calc AB next year, you’ll probably be bored either this year or next year. If regular calc is too easy, you’ll be bored this year. If it’s hard, you’ll be bored in AP Calc, since it would be basically the same.
As for APUSH, if regular calc and AP calc are actually close in difficulty, then don’t base your decision on which calculus you take.

There’s really no point at all of taking Calc AB -> Calc BC. Take APUSH Junior year and Calc BC Senior year. Also, APUSH isn’t hard at all.
