Does it matter where you get your degree?

I go to Florida International University which I was told has a good architecture program. But compared to other top schools it is nothing. Im planning on applying to the archtiecture college soon for the 5 year M.arch track and was wondering if it would be worth it to switch somewhere more prestigious? Im only doing this for the sake of increasing my chances for employment. Would employers hire someone from a top 5 or my school?

What ultimately matters is the strength of your portfolio, however there is no doubt that a UF or UM graduate would probably get a harder look than an FIU student. They have many more alumni in place and a much longer history. I would see if any firm principals in the area were willing to give you insights into what they see at each of the programs. That would give you a good idea of how your degree will be perceived.
