Does it matter which courses you've taken when applying to super competitive schools?

<p>Neither S or Y have specific required coursework for transfers, nor are they likely to hold the fact that you haven’t had calc against you. That said, what might hurt you with not having taken calc or other high level coursework is that you will be competing for very limited spots with other applicants who have.</p>

As Yale is above all an academic institution, academic strength is our first consideration in evaluating any candidate. The single most important document in the application is the college transcript. Successful transfer applicants present evidence of exceptionally strong college performance in demanding courses.

the Admissions Committee does give special consideration to those transfer candidates with community college experience or military service. Diversity within the student body is important and the Committee works very hard to select a class of able and contributing individuals from as broad a range of backgrounds as possible.

<p>While they say this on their website, to my knowledge, Y has accepted 1-2 transfers from CCs in the past 3 years.</p>
