my brother is a sophomore in college, and I am going to be a college freshman starting next fall. My father has been filling out my brother's FAFSA for the past 2 years, and he was wondering if he has to fill out a separate FAFSA for me, or if he can just fill out one that will work for both me and my brother.

Yes, you each need to submit a separate FAFSA. YOU also need your own PIN number (your brother already has one)…your dad can use the same PIN for both of you.

You each have to have your own FAFSA. Your Dad can use his same PIN for signing the parent part of both, but you will have to apply for your own PIN to sign your own FAFSA.

I believe there is a way of doing one FAFSA then using the data from it to populate the 2nd child’s FAFSA with some of the shared data, but I have never done it. otherwise it does not really take long to complete FAFSA once the data is assembled.

thank you guys SO much. i really appreciate the answers :)
