Hi. I’m an international student from Mongolia and since there is practically no Mongols in America I wonder if being Mongol would hurt my chance of getting in to top colleges. Although I’m from Mongolia, I’ve lived outside of Mongolia for most of my life. So I’m not the stereotypical Mongol at all. Help! What should I say about my identity?
As far as I know, you being Mongolian shouldn’t hurt your admission chances at all. In general, colleges are looking to diversify their campuses, so you should be fine.
