My son would love to go to Northwestern but his test scores aren’t phenomenal. New SAT 1390 (700M/690R). Unweighted GPA 3.94 with mostly honors and AP classes. His only B’s were in Calc BC but he just got a “5” on the AP. Good EC’s and volunteer activities. We are awaiting June SAT scores but anticipate taking for a final time in October. At this point he is undecided on a major. How high of an SAT score will he need to even have a shot at this?
Easiest way to understand chances at a school such as Northwestern that relies so heavily on SAT/ACT scores is to review the most recent common data set results - 50% is 730 CR, 750 Math so a 690/700 is at the lowest 25% which will be a super reach without any hooks.
ED would significantly increase his chance.
