Does NMSF help chances?

I was just wondering if being a National Merit Semi-Finalist (hopefully nothing goes wrong and I end up a Finalist) helps a *significant * amount in the application. A thought of mine was since Darmouth is an ivy, being a NMSF is a rather common honor/EC, and it doesn't do much.

I don't mean in terms of scholarships or money, I'm just talking about chances of getting in.

Thanks guys!

Congratulations on NMSF. Unfortunately, NMSF or NMF doesn’t carry much weight in terms of admissions at top schools for a couple reasons: a) it is based upon PSAT scores, (which admissions doesn’t look at), and b) the cutoff scores for the award vary by state.

No. Your SAT/ACT is much more important to the Ivies.

Very good for you! Quite a feather in your cap.
Not a distinguishing accomplishment in the Ivy League application pool.
