Does playing in video game tournaments count as an extracurricular

I have been playing in Pokemon VGC competitions since I was in 6th grade. I have won $600 when I placed second at a regional event, but I was in 8th grade so I'm not sure if I can list it. Also in 7th grade I qualified for the world championships by getting top 8 in the national championships. The grand prize for winning the world championships is a $10,000 scholarship.

Will it be a good idea to list in on college apps? Will it help my college admission chances at all?

Here is more info: <a href="http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Play!_Pok%C3%A9mon#Typical_prize_structure_7">http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Play!_Pok%C3%A9mon#Typical_prize_structure_7</a>
It is not easy to do well in these competitions.I had to spend a lot of time practicing everyday.

To be honest, you can only list achievements from 9th grade onward. Did you do this EC in high school?

Yes I do it every year. However, I didn’t win any money during high school but I did win a lot of card booster packs worth about $80 in total.

Yes, it’s an extracurricular activity.

I would definitely list it. I’m in the same boat; I got 3rd at Worlds for the TCG so I think it’d be a waste not to mention it.

Wow nice!

Unfortunately I never did that well. Will it help my college admission chances at all if I list it even though the best I have done during high school is top 8 at nationals in 2012?

Possibly. I think that a top placement at any kind of national level is impressive.

I know it is impressive and hard to get but how will colleges know that? You know what I mean? It sounds easy to do and like a joke if someone has never heard of this.
