does post bacc help over look a low gpa?

Alright so, I'm not gonna B.S. this at all. I did NOT do well during my undergrad years. I just graduated this february with a 2.7. My last two years, my semester GPA was a 3.0 and above but of course, that did not help my cumulative GPA. I am very much interested in the field of psychology yet, I was just not focused and as serious as I should have been. I'm really beating myself up for all this and regret it more than you can imagine!

I've been trying to do AS much research as possible and from what I've seen, if you do not have at least a 3.0, a good amount of grad schools wont even consider you. My question to all of you is if there's ANY way possible that I could show grad schools that I'm serious and deserve a shot?

Since I just graduated with a bachelor of arts in psychology, I have been applying to several counselor jobs. I plan on doing this for at LEAST a year or two. I've heard work experience and getting good recommendations will help.

Also, by the time summer approaches, I plan on getting several GRE prep books and probably a tutor or taking some GRE prep session. I want to study it for MONTHS and try to get the highest score I possibly can.

I've heard people mention a post-bacc. for trying to fix a GPA. Would that actually help and how long does it take to complete one? Could doing this option get me into a really good school (instead of just an "okay" one with a 2.7 gpa?)

Thank you for all your help!
