does study disability like dyslexia affect my chances at Yale?

By now I did TOEFL (102/120), Math 2 (770) US history (620 - I am an international) and the SAT ( 2010 , CR 580, M 760 , W 670) without getting some sort of adaptions from CB.

I have dyslexia and I used to get adaptions in high school such as time addition enlarge text etc. I think I can get some adaptions in the SAT that will help me improve my score (not into 2200 but like 2100).
my biggest problem is reading fast without making mistakes while I am reading ( I can read different lines without even realizing that or read words that aren't there and so on)

Do you think Yale will see my score as "less good" then other scores , and me as "less good" than other students?

Collegeboard doesn’t tell colleges whether or not you had accomodations, so you should be fine.

If you report it onto your application, I’m sure they will take it into account. If you really are competitive at Yale (and it sounds like you’re on the right track), they definitely won’t count it against you.

As long as you tell them the reason and yet have competitive stats, then you’ll have a chance. I honestly think it’ll hurt your chances of matriculation slightly though.

Sezon what is matriculation?

Matriculation is basically getting in and attending.

Honestly, I think even if you did get in, you’d have a harder time. I mean, I’m not saying you shouldn’t or couldn’t do it - but like other Ivy and top school students, Yale students study a LOT. I’m not sure how bad your dyslexia is or how good you are at dealing with it, but it could add up to a lot of extra time studying. You should definitely go to a tough school - and like I said, I don’t know you that well - but you should look at the accomodations for each school and the average amount of time spent studying. It might make things a little easier for you.

Also, this is random, but have you thought about buying fabric to put on your dorm room walls? My boyfriend was dyslexic, but one of his main problems was black text on white paper - or anything white. White gave him a migraine.

applicannot I can study hard:) I used to take 5 advance classes per year in addition to the regular classes back in high school in Israel when you are only required 3 (and the maximum the suggests you to take is 4) .

I know Yale pressure and my biggest problem is reading: I can read fast , more than other people I know , but when I read my mind put words that are not there and/or move between rows, so I need to slow down my reading to get everything right. In the time of the CR I can’t read slower like I need to, in addition I can’t see volume in drawing I need to concentrate a lot to find the point to see it , I will see cube as flat before I will see the cube:). on the other hand my dyslexia help me a lot with science, numbers and logic, and I can multitasking, for instance I always see the components before the whole thing when you see a car I will see first of all a part of it before I will see the car, In my work field during army service and at computer it help me a lot to see parts, before the whole.

thank you for your tip, but I don’t have the problem with black and white.
