Does taking Calculus at a Community college look bad?

I am appealing to take AP Calculus at my high school. If I am not admitted into AP Calc, I have deciced to take calculus over the summer at a community college. The credit does not transfer to my high school, but I have heard I can attach the transcript from my community college to my college ap. Will this look bad on my college resume? I am aiming to get into top business schools.

thanks

Not at all. In fact I’d say it looks way better than taking no calc at all, so go for it!

@AnEpicIndian Ok thanks dude. If I don’t get into AP than I will just go for it. It would better than just taking CP Calculus at my high school right? Thanks again.

CP as in college preparatory

I’m assuming you’re looking to go out of state for college since you want to attend a top business school. If you really want to commit to taking a fairly rigorous college class over the summer for credit hours rather than taking a similar, but non-credit, course during your senior year, I suggest

  1. You'll have a math course to take at your high school during your senior year.
  2. You're willing to sacrifice the credits if you choose to attend a private or OOS school that may not accept credits from CCs.
  3. You have the time to balance workload and other summer activities.

If you choose to take the college prep route, it may look less rigorous than a CC course. If you do that, I’d request to take the AP Calculus exam next May.

Personally, I’d take the summer course AND take the AP exam so I can receive credit in case you don’t stay in-state for college.

@AnEpicIndian Ok that makes sense to me. Gaining credit is not the problem for me, since most colleges many of the colleges that I wish to apply to do not accept AP Calc credit. Also I would take AP stat and AP computer scienece my senior year if I did not get into AP Calc. Thanks
