A couple of schools that I'm applying to "strongly recommend" to send all scores, but my SAT Subject Tests sucked, so I don't want to send them. Luckily, the Subject Tests are not on my high school transcript, but I'm concerned that in my SAT I Score Report that the CollegeBoard will show that I took those 2 SAT Subject Tests when I send my SAT I score report.

Come on guyzzzz

No, Score Choice allows you to not send those scores. Be advised, “strongly recommend” is another way of saying “require”.

Curious though…is there some “hidden” method that colleges can use to know if you used score choice for SAT?

(I remember back when collegeboard first gave the option of score choice and there was a huge controversy over whether or not you can be found out if you chose not to disclose everything)

“Hmm, this guy looks smart, he’s got a 4.0, solid EC’s, wonderful essays, looks like he is a great applicant, very determined! But wait, he hasn’t taken Subject Tests. Could he be that ignorant, or is he hiding something from us?”

Actually, same here, bloog. Very interested.

Yes. Colleges will know how many times you took the SAT. The score you want to send it up to you, but there will be like a blank stating that you have taken the SAT that time, but you don’t want to reveal your scores. So, I believe it will be something like this:

1st: ---------
2nd: --------
3rd: 2230

So, colleges will know you took it the first two times, but they will know the scores of only the third (unless you want to reveal the other two).

And if we decide to hide Subject Tests, they’ll get:

Literature:
1: -----------

Span/L
1: -----------

Physics:
1: -----------
2: 750

So even if you submit no Subject Tests (and just send the SAT I score), they’ll still see it as:

Literature:
1:-------

Math II:
2: -------

Correct?

Do you really think the College Board would set up Score Choice that way?

We both were asking as a question. Sorry.

But hey, they must have a compromise between college/student. If they just say “WE don’t report anything unless the student wants to.” the college can drop the CB and start accepting ACT scores and only ACT scores. It makes some sense.

The above is not correct. CB does not send anything on a test you decide not to send including any blank with the test name as mentioned above. For a withheld test it provides absolutely nothing to indicate you even registered for it.

Your problem is not CB but it might be your high school. Many high schools put all your test scores on your official high school transcript sent to colleges. Thus, you better find out what yours does because withholding scores through CB could be an exercise in futility, and of course the college would then know you tried to withhold a test once it gets that transcript and sees the test scores on it,.

That’s great news. Thank you.

Phew! Thanks @drusba and all others for their input!

@drusba but how will the college know if I am sending all scores or some selected ones?
