Does this count as a research internship?

Hello everybody! So it’s to my disappointment that I learned that I wouldn’t actually be conducting research, but rather watching others do it, since the cancer center Im at doesn’t really trust my age and experience (and plus their resources are expensive and I might mess up and waste them). However, what I will be doing is taking a part of the data, running it through programs to sort, and analyzing/finding correlation between certain factors and diseases to compile in a report (this data will contribute to patient diagnosis). Does this still count as a research internship? (Nevertheless im pretty psyched to be playing with data that will be used in the future)

Yes, manipulating the data and analysis is part of the research process and an important part of the research team.
