Does this count as an Extra Curricular?

Hi,

I self-taught myself the Palmer Method of Business Writing. It is basically Calligraphy/Penmanship. I am now an expert and my handwriting is very beautiful. Does this count as an extra-curricular a university would want to hear about (I have other ECs and impressive academic stats so wondering if this can provide another facet to my application).

No, this is not an EC. But if it is indicative of how you deal with the world "I care about aesthetics – enough to learn how to make the notes I take for myself and the ones I write for others - beautiful ", you can reference it in an essay.

Have you taught anyone the skill, or participated in competitions for it? Has your Palmer writing been featured in any shows or magazines, etc? If any of the above apply, it could potentially be listed on the Common App as a job or activity, depending on which of the above you’ve done.

It sounds like a hobby, not an EC to me. There are ways you can turn it into an EC (for example teaching at senior citizens center, making posters.or logos for clubs/events etc.) or even turn it into a small job.
