Does this "help" for admissions to Stanford?

Ok, when I was asking a current Stanford professor for any tips on admissions, he said to mention that my dad was a professor from a prestigious university who is currently trying to collaborate with some Stanford research project with them.
Does this actually help? I didn’t think it does but since the professor recommended it to me (as a way to “stand out”), I’m not exactly sure now.

Thanks

No. I wouldn’t do it.

No—I think the only way you’d stand out is by showing the admissions committee that you were trying to use your dad’s achievements to get yourself in. Very bad idea.

Just goes to show that even faculty have no idea how admissions works at their own school.

Ok, that’s what I thought then. Thanks everybody!
