Does this mean the End of My Chances for Stanford???????

i kinda already posted this once but im freaking out.
ok im an international student (India) so there aren't that many seats up for grabs
and someone in my school has already gotten into Stanford EA for computer science

does that persons admission affect my chances
plus i also want to apply as a computer science major, should i change this

i would do anything to improve my chances

alternate major is electrical engineering

No, this does not mean that this hurts your chances for Stanford. However, if you want to improve your chances, continue to keep your grades high as well as do extracurricular activities. If you already sent in your application, you can shoot a friendly email to them, updating what you have been doing lately. Good luck.

like what would be the effect on my app

1- no effect, whatsoever
2- minor effect, still should get in if worthy
3- decent effect, only very very competitive app would get me in
4- major effect, would need to win a lottery to get in
5- i get the boot

There are sometimes international student quotas at schools, and they are often by country as well. So there is that effect that one student you know from your COUNTRY was accepted to Stanford, but that s/he happens to be from your school is not the issue.

@ricecakexd‌ already provided what I believe is a good answer to your initial question. In my opinion, your table (#3) misses the essential point: Stanford will accept or deny your application, based entirely on their evaluation of YOU, not becuase another student in your school was admitted. Therefore, the germane data is only your application’s contents, none of which was furnished (and there is certainly no need to do so now – for better or for worse, your application package is basically complete).

Plus, unless you did something spectacular or have some talent that very few people have and Stanford values or come from a prominent family (in which case, it’s unlikely that you’ll be posting this), your chances are remote anyway. Worrying about whether your chances went from 0.00101 to 0.001 seems a bit silly to me.

What are your backup choices?

purdue, UC irvine, UC san diego - safeties
umich, georgia tech, UIUC - kinda like matches
should get into the above
got a couple of ivies as well

maybe do undecided, as stanford lets you change your major once you get in

or should i go in for electrical engineering.
does going for compsci affect my chances

India is 2nd ranked after china for countries sending the most students to study in the US. U are competing against a huge number of your countrymen for a limited number of slots for Indian students.

If u didn’t get admitted during the EA round, I seriously doubt u have any chance. Stop “freaking out” and move on with your life.
