Does UCLA admit by major?

I am an international student, and I was just wondering if applying for UCLA under "Undeclared" would affect my admission chances?</p>

<p>P.S., does applying for merit based scholarship diminish your admission chances too?</p>

<p>For first year undergraduate students, UCLA admits by school, not by major. </p>

<p>The College of Letters and Sciences contains most majors and the school of Engineering, which uses more stringent admissions standards, contains most of the others.</p>
