Does UM calculate foreign language in UM GPA?

I take both Spanish and Chinese. My grade in Chinese is not so good. I got the defferal letter asking for fall semester grades and I want to know if I should drop Chinese so that it does not lower my UM GPA.

For the benefit of all please list exactly what types of classes are included and not included in UM GPA.

it won’t matter if you drop chinese now; it’s already on your fall semester grades

The semester doesn’t end for two weeks and you didn’t even answer my question-Does it count on the UM GPA?

It does count.

From their website:

Once your completed application is received, we recalculate your GPA into a “Michigan GPA”. This is based only on core, academic courses, which include:

* English

 • Science
 • Mathematics
 • Social Science or History
 • Foreign Language
 • Computer Programming

Grades are determined using an unweighted 4.0 scale:

* A (including plus or minus ) = 4.0

 • B (including plus or minus) = 3.0
 • C (including plus or minus) = 2.0
 • D (including plus or minus) = 1.0
 • E or F = 0.0.

Freshmen: No extra (GPA) weight is given to Honors, Accelerated, or Advanced Placement courses; however, the difficulty of a student’s curriculum is taken into consideration within the admissions process. Additionally, only courses taken 10th and 11th grade are used to calculate the GPA.
