Does UMich Give Good Merit Aid and How is Admission w/ OOS Applicants

I am fairly decent academically (3.9uw, 2200 sat [might be able to pull of a 2300], 11 AP, rank 15/800, 800mathII; 800chemII) and I am involved w/ clubs ([4] all 4 years of HS, president of one) and competitions (regional, state, and national). I also volunteer a lot ~550 hours (presidential service award)

How are my chances based roughly on that (im OOS from southwest)?
How much merit aid do you think I would get??? (can't get any fin aid)
Probably my 2nd choice after Northwestern so I will probably apply EA.

Your definitely a match/safety for Michigan, but for OOS its quite difficult to measure merit aid potential. All I can suggest is applying really early and looking around and applying personally to scholarships.

bump please more comments!

[University of Michigan Office of Financial Aid: General Information](http://www.finaid.umich.edu/types_of_financial_aid/scholarships/scholar.asp#Distinguished)

Here’s the link to the scholarship page is you haven’t already read and bookmarked. Get your app completed and your paperwork in pronto…

You had fairly similar grades to what I did coming out, but I didn’t get anything. Maybe they like the SAT over the ACT though. Or care about subject test. Its gonna be hard though OOS and just do to the fact there are so many kids. Good Luck

You have a good chance of getting in. But don’t get your hopes high for merit aid. In general, public colleges don’t give much merit aid especially for OOS.

You have the profile of roughly 1,000 entering freshmen. Of those, only half will get merit scholarships. So you have a decent chance of getting merit money, but it is not certain.

As for financial aid, Michigan is not the most generous toward OOS students.
