undergrads or graduate studies? Can it amount to the total cost of tuition?

Probably not. I’m an international student as well, and when I asked the financial aid department about scholarships, this is the e-mail I got back:

"Hi,

Our office has little if any aid to offer because Federal regulations and University policy severely limit the types of financial assistance available to international students. University admissions policy requires that international students (those with F-1, F-2, J-1, J-2, and G series visas) have enough resources to meet their expenses throughout their stay at the University."

I’m not an international student, but some of the international students I know told me that international students basically don’t get financial aid at all. Maybe scholarships, but I know that international students don’t get financial aid, and I have never seen an international student that received enough aid to compensate for cost of tuition.

It’s different for grad school. International students are considered on equal basis for scholarships.

International students do not get aid for undergrad, but I have a friend who is international who got an LSA scholarship because I think she was active in an organization affiliated to the University prior to enrollment.

There are a few alumni scholarships targeted for specific international student groups. I don’t think you can count on those.
