Does watching the Dartmouth Aires make you want to go to Dartmouth?

Watching the Dartmouth Aires on NBC's "The Sing Off" has been unexpectedly fun. I was wondering if it sends potential applicants a positive message about the students at Dartmouth. Their Queen medley was unbelievable.

Hi Magnum,
Fellow parent here, but I’ve really been cheering for the Aires and especially was impressed with the Queen medley too. I have never seen them, when on campus, but in the future hope to see them perform live. In answer to your question though…everything about Dartmouth makes me want to go back in time and go to Dartmouth (except for exams)!!!

Yes. The Dartmouth Aires bring so much personality. There also seems to be a nice bond between the members. They are great.

I lovvvveeee acapella. I’m determined to be in an acapella group no matter where I go to college.

Mini Van and Sprinter, If you go to YouTube you should check out their “normal” campus performances to get an idea how they sound outside of Hollywood. They are great. Also, to get a feel of the campus vibe you should check out all the videos for the past 3 “Dartmouth Idol” competitions. There is so much talent at Dartmouth. And they all seem to love the school. We have been pleasantly surprised by the experience. Yes, have graduated from a large state university, I would love to switch places with my son. Although, I certainly could not handle those exams and papers.

I watched them for the first time last Monday. I noticed they wore green for their first number, but it was not the Hunter Green of Dartmouth. It was more like a bright chlorophyll green.

I am sure they were costumed by the studio in Hollywood during the summer. If they make the finals next week, they will return to the studios for a live finale on November 28. I wish them the best. Here is a new interview with some of them posted yesterday by Dartmouth:

My sentiments, exactly. There ought to be a second college experience for parents. Kind of like renewing one’s wedding vows. :)

MiniVan and Consolation… I am with you! If only we could have that opportunity now! Every time I go to Dartmouth, I am so envious of the students and only hope they appreciate all that is available to them. My alma mater, Colgate, actually has a summer program for alumni called “Summer on the Hill” so you can go back and take a class. Then again, I’m sure our kids would be mortified if their parents were on campus with them for more than a weekend.

One nice silver lining we get as alums is our reunions are spectacular. They are so well attended and with so many events and the opportunity to stay in dorms it feels like being on campus again. Sad they are only a weekend.

Hey guys, I go to Dartmouth and I’m actually close friends with all of the Aires. They were costumed for the most part by the studio for The Sing-Off, so that’s why their stuff doesn’t always match the school colors. They don’t actually usually perform in school colors - like much of Dartmouth, they wear what we call ‘flair’ - outrageous, colorful clothing that looks absolutely ridiculous and rarely matches. They are so much fun to have on campus, and are one of many reasons why people should want to come to Dartmouth!

What a great series of performances by the guys. The Big Green rocked the Big Orange! Absolutely a great rep for Dartmouth.
